IBP transformation must be driven internally!

Integrated Business Planning (IBP) is a brilliant process to nurture cross-functional team engagement and achieve outstanding organisational performance. From my experience a π’Žπ’‚π’‹π’π’“ 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏 𝑰𝑩𝑷 π’•π’“π’‚π’π’”π’‡π’π’“π’Žπ’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’ π’Žπ’–π’”π’• 𝒃𝒆 π’…π’“π’Šπ’—π’†π’ π’ƒπ’š 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’Šπ’π’•π’†π’“π’π’‚π’ π’•π’†π’‚π’Žπ’”. However, there are some areas, where external consultancy can be of great support.

Principles for a successful IBP transformation:
⇨ Fully leverage the π’Šπ’π’•π’†π’“π’π’‚π’ 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒔 π’Šπ’ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’π’“π’ˆπ’‚π’π’Šπ’”π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’!
⇨ Make sure that you have an π’Šπ’π’•π’†π’“π’π’‚π’ 𝑰𝑩𝑷 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅
⇨ Build a strong 𝑰𝑩𝑷 π’ˆπ’π’—π’†π’“π’π’‚π’π’„π’† that will drive evolutionary improvement of process, system, and organisation
⇨ All team members should get the opportunity to π’•π’“π’š 𝒐𝒖𝒕 π’•π’‰π’Šπ’π’ˆπ’” and to benefit from the learnings
⇨ Make sure that the process, system and organisational π’π’†π’‚π’“π’π’Šπ’π’ˆπ’” π’“π’†π’Žπ’‚π’Šπ’ π’Šπ’ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’π’“π’ˆπ’‚π’π’Šπ’”π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’.

External consultancy may be especially valuable to sharpen the 𝑾𝑯𝒀 and the 𝑯𝑢𝑾 of the process:
⇨ 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆-π’Žπ’‚π’Œπ’Šπ’π’ˆ interviews with all functions to paint the picture of current condition versus IBP vision
⇨ Act as a sounding board and π’„π’π’Žπ’‘π’‚π’π’Šπ’π’ 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝑩𝑷 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅 bringing in external experience
⇨ π’„π’π’‚π’„π’‰π’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝑩𝑷 π’•π’†π’‚π’Ž along the IBP transformation journey
⇨ setting up a 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓 π’ˆπ’π’—π’†π’“π’π’‚π’π’„π’† 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆
⇨ supporting the teams not just on the technical aspects of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) (process, system), but also in the π’ƒπ’†π’‰π’‚π’—π’Šπ’π’–π’“π’‚π’ 𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔 (people, organisation) of a cross-functional business transformation
